Project Follow-up

Being a philanthropist is not always about going out and volunteering for something and it doesn't need to be hard work. You can choose to bring philanthropy to your everyday life.

Recently Food Angle partnered with park and shop and left bins where you could put your unwanted food purchases or buy a little extra to help someone in need.

We though this was a great idea, so simple and effortless and something that everyone can participate in.

There are some fun facts on the Food Angle website that may help you sway your position on the food waste in your own home or while you are dining out.

Did you know that Over 3,300 tons of surplus food is discarded in Hong Kong every day?

Approximately, 33% of the food waste comes from food industries.

The Hong Kong Government spends $2.4 million of our tax money on processing waste every day.

All three of Hong Kong's landfills are due to be full by 2020.

2017 Food Angel

Food Angel is a food rescue and food assistance program launched in 2011 by Bo Charity Foundation with the mission of "WASTE NOT, HUNGER NOT, WITH LOVE." The program rescues edible surplus food from different sectors of the food industry that would otherwise be disposed of as waste. Following strict safety protocols, the rescued food items will then be prepared for nutritious hot meals in their central kitchen and be redistributed to serve the underprivileged communities in Hong Kong.
